Today, Echoes And Dust is hosting the exclusive premiere of âCrown Of Echoes,â the new single from Boston-based trio post-metal trio, LESOTHO. The song is the newest preview of the bandâs impending Through The Dying Light debut album, nearing release in early April.
The ten songs on LESOTHOâs Through The Dying Light encompass fifty minutes of mesmerizing instrumental post-metal performed by guitarist Kyle Loffredo, bassist Cliff Cazeau, and drummer Zach Ganshirt, with guest lap steel on “Flicker” by Phil Todisco and a guest vocal performance on “Floater” by Molly Grace Chandler. The album was recorded at The Bridge Sound & Stage â formerly known as Fort Apache Studios, the site of the creation of ISIS’ post-metal epic, Oceanic â with Alex Allinson handling the engineering, recording, and mixing duties, after which the tracks were sent to Mario Quintero of NYC doomgaze act Spotlights who handled mixing at Audio//MQ. The album features artwork and a visual collaboration provided by Thibeault Landemaine and Anaïs Ferreira of the Jack Hillside Collective based in Bordeaux, France
With the âCrown Of Echoesâ premiere, Cliff Cazeau reveals, âIronically enough, this is actually kind of an older song for us. We originally had finished composing it and locking in all the parts right before our sessions to record our EP, Summer Wars. We even recorded it live as a special introduction for the live performance we did to accompany that record. After sitting on it for a bit, we ended up taking it back to The Bridge for the TTDL sessions and somehow made what was already one of our particularly heavy songs somehow even heavier. We love playing this one live and we all definitely feel like it captures a lot of the dynamics of what our sound has evolved into with this album. Heavy. Quiet. Dark. Feels.â

Formed in the quarantine days of 2020, LESOTHO released their Summer Wars debut EP in 2021 which quickly cemented their place as an up-and-coming artist to watch in the New England alternative metal scene. As Distorted Sound Magazine put it, “as a result of a mutual love for instrumental heavy music, the band quickly established their raison dâêtre; to dazzle us the listener with cathartic and challenging music.”
As LESOTHO continues gaining more and more traction in the Northeast underground scene, with Through The Dying Light ready to upend expectations, LESOTHO will surely deliver the both the emotional and sonic depths they promise. With a budding reputation as one of the “best kept secrets” in the Boston post-metal underground, this trio likely won’t be a secret much longer.
